Founder of the Month: Rahma Abid

Rahma Abid is the founder and CEO of Shape, a Tunisian edtech startup that provides a SaaS platform for professionals to access continuous learning and training. The platform allows users to create personalized training plans that align with their career goals. Since launching in 2021, Shape has received $50,000 from The Oman Technology Fund and has more than 1,000 users on its platform.

In addition to her work with Shape, Rahma is a marketing mentor at Founder Institute Tunisia where she helps entrepreneurs develop their marketing strategies and set marketing goals. Prior to founding Shape, Abid was the Innovation Manager at She Starts Africa from 2019 to 2021.

Rahma launched Shape with 12 candidates in October 2021 and generated revenue from that cohort. However, she encountered technical and logistical problems, as well as a bout of COVID-19 that disrupted the program for 20 days. Despite these setbacks, Shape has now had three cohorts in its “Shape Your Future” program and 20 people recruited by its partners.

Today, Shape has over 30 partners, including two universities, and has expanded its reach beyond Tunisia to France and Canada. Rahma’s main challenge is scaling quickly enough to meet the demand for the services her startup offers. However, she remains committed to helping professionals learn, reshape, and practice their skills through Shape’s customized and practical courses for a personalized career plan.
