Founder of the Month: Rotimi Thomas

Rotimi Thomas is the co-founder and CEO of SunFi, a fintech company that matches people in need of solar energy solutions with payment plans that work for them. He holds degrees in business administration and environmental management from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and Nicholas School of the Environment.

Prior to SunFi, he co-founded Aspire Power Solutions, a solar installation company based on his knowledge of renewable energy and experience working in various roles relating to energy, gas, and power projects across Nigeria and other African countries.

SunFi offers two payment options to customers: lease-to-own, in which customers pay an initial deposit and then pay in installments until they own the solar system, and subscription, in which customers pay a monthly fee to use the solar system.

The startup recently received US$2.325 million in seed funding, led by Nairobi-based Factor[e] and SCM Capital Asset Management. The investment will allow SunFi to expand its operations and improve its ability to recommend the best systems at the lowest possible cost to customers.
