Founder of the Month: Kidist Tesfaye

Kidist Tesfaye is the CEO of YeneHealth, an innovative startup in Ethiopia that utilizes AI and data analytics to empower African women through a period and pregnancy tracking app, as well as a digital marketplace for healthcare products and services.

YeneHealth’s primary objective is to address the unmet need for family planning in Ethiopia by reaching, educating, and fostering women’s confidence in contraceptive usage. As the first femtech startup in Ethiopia, YeneHealth is revolutionizing sexual and reproductive healthcare services for African women, making them more accessible through digital platforms.

Kidist Tesfaye brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. She holds a Master’s degree in Education/Entrepreneurship from Harvard University and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Global Studies, and Strategic Communications from the University of Minnesota. With over 12 years of leadership in various sectors such as finance, education, business, and healthcare, Kidist possesses expertise in venture building, design thinking, strategic planning, and team management. She has also provided consulting services, coaching entrepreneurs and businesses globally.

Recently, YeneHealth achieved a significant milestone by securing an undisclosed pre-seed investment from The Case for Her, a women’s health investment fund based in Sweden. This investment will propel YeneHealth’s mission and enable further development of their products and services, expanding their impact on women’s healthcare in Ethiopia and beyond.
