Envisionit Deep AI is a healthtech startup that aims to revolutionize medical imaging diagnosis using artificial intelligence. With a vision to democratize access to diagnostic healthcare, Envisionit Deep AI aims to positively impact healthcare by utilizing advanced technology.
The startup was founded by Dr. Jaishree Naidoo, Terence Naidu, and Andrei Migatchev, after Dr. Naidoo, a radiologist with 20 years of experience, had an epiphany in 2014 after reading a news story about the use of AI recognition patterns. She recognized right away how AI could be used in the medical imaging industry to bridge the diagnostic imaging demand gap.
Since its launch in 2019, Envisionit Deep AI has achieved significant milestones in the healthcare industry. The platform has proven beneficial during the COVID-19 pandemic, where the startup unveiled a product that could detect COVID pneumonia from chest X-rays in less than 25 milliseconds. This product was deployed in a 700-bed hospital in South Africa’s Northern Cape province, where only one radiologist was available, to drive efficiency and improve patient outcomes.
Envisionit Deep AI’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, and they recently received a $1.65 million investment from New GX Ventures SA. The funding will assist Envisionit Deep AI in expanding its product suite beyond South Africa.
Looking to the future, Envisionit Deep AI plans to scale its platform and expand its reach. By leveraging AI and machine learning, the startup aims to improve the quality and speed of medical diagnoses, especially in Africa, where infrastructure and human resource investments remain low.
