Damilola Olokesusi, CEO and co-founder of Shuttlers, has spearheaded the growth of a pioneering ride-sharing mobility startup that is revolutionizing the daily commute for urban professionals, particularly in the Nigerian metropolitan cities of Lagos and Abuja.
Shuttlers’ technology-driven platform enables professionals to effortlessly book a seat in an air-conditioned bus on a specific route, pay for a subscription, and conveniently track the arrival and departure times of their shuttles.
Damilola’s motivation for starting Shuttlers arose from her own frustrating experiences with public transportation in Lagos. She recognized the need for a more efficient transportation system for professionals in Lagos using a shared scheduled model enabled by technology. With the support of her co-founders, Busola Majekodunmi and Damilola Quadry, they launched Shuttlers in 2016. The startup’s mission includes reducing the stress of commuting to and from work, decreasing the number of privately-driven cars on the road during peak hours, and minimizing its commuters’ carbon footprint in the environment.
Shuttlers began with only one route, but has since expanded, servicing over 44 routes as the company has grown, and has recorded 3 million trips since its launch. The startup recently secured a $4 million funding round led by Verod-Kepple Africa Ventures.
Damilola was listed in the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 (Tech) in 2019.
